The exhibition presented at La Colectiva, “Blurred” speaks of a society in the process of structural change. The future that awaits us is uncertain, but we have the opportunity to write it ourselves.
The work of Jose Antonio Picazo has always moved in a period that began in the industrial revolution and lasts to this day.. In this exhibition the author wanted to highlight the new paradigm of a society that will have to adapt to a new reality., where the structures of the environment in which we are accustomed to living are changing profoundly. We could talk about globalization issues, of sexuality, of environmentalisms. But here reference is made to the rhythms of life we lead, inherited from this industrial revolution, and that determine the type of life we currently have. These rhythms are destined to change profoundly because the workforce will be largely replaced, and sooner rather than later, for robotization, automation and artificial intelligence. Therefore, the economic system and consequently our rhythms of life will have to profoundly change..
To symbolize this reality, Jose Antonio Picazo has decided to work with cardboard supports that are in the middle of the recycling process and therefore are in the phase of moving from one state to another..
In the development of the work the artist has decided to work with transparencies between the different layers, to represent these structures that govern our lives, they fade slightly and therefore disappear to be replaced by others that we have to decide which will be.
Finally, the so-called “defects” of the work and the support have also been revealed., symbolized the distortions that our current society is suffering due to this process of change.
Ultimately, “blurred” wants to be an exhibition that covers a global concept from its theorization to its development.. Wanting to use the language of art and more specifically that of the artist to transmit a message that takes us towards a path that builds a better society and that takes more into account the human factor..
